TAKING ACTION ON THE HOUSING CRISIS
Background
Statement
The
creation of the Regional Housing Fund arose from efforts by the Upper
Valley Housing Coalition for a permanent solution to address the affordability
gap in the ability of Upper Valley residents and employees to acquire
adequate housing. This need is detailed in the Upper Valley Housing
Needs Analysis and is supported by those working in the home financing
field, individuals seeking housing, and employers citing the lack of
housing as a threat to their ability to compete in the marketplace as
it is driving up costs associated with recruitment and retention. To
address a scarcity of housing choices for the workforce in the Upper
Valley, the Regional Housing Fund is a tool the Housing Coalition will
use to facilitate and promote the development of a range of housing
opportunities through several financial vehicles.
